We have the equipment that supports the new rule for coffee machines and other pressurized water vessels in office buildings.

New rules from Säker Vatten apply on January 1, 2021. They include, among other things, coffee machines and water dispensers. The purpose is to prevent extensive and costly water damage from machines that are connected to pressurized water and usually lack automatic shut-off in case of leakage.

Our leakage switch in combination with a drip tray provides complete protection against devastating water damage that can occur when the office’s coffee machine or water dispenser starts to leak. In addition, they live up to the new industry regulations that are mandatory for property owners to follow from January 1 2020.

TOLLCO HAS THE SOLUTION

We have leakage protection which are produced according to the recommendation issued by Säker Vatten. They are tested and approved according to type approval 0505/01 at RISE test institution. The products are also accepted in the Building Goods Assessment. The trays have fold-up edges all around and we make sure to adjust them to fit your particular equipment. The product is manufactured in black and transparent PP plastic.

The leakage switch Tollco Plugin is designed to minimize water damage from individual equipment.

A motorized ball valve is mounted before the hose to the equipment. The valve functions as an on-off switch for the water to the equipment. You turn on the water by pressing the on button and turn it off by pressing the off button on the central unit. A water sensor is placed under the equipment. It continuously senses if it gets water on it. If this happens, the water is turned off immediately at the same time as a beeping signal that a leak has occurred. The leakage switch is plugged into a standard wall socket.

WHEN THE ACCIDENT HAPPENS

If a leak occurs in a machine that is connected to pressurized water, the damage is often enormous. The reason is that there are usually no floor drains or high thresholds in modern properties. The water rushes forward at between 25 and 50 liters per minute if a hose breaks. If there is no one on site who can turn off the water, this means several cubic meters of water per hour. If water damage occurs and it turns out to be due to an installation not being carried out according to Säker Vatten’s industry rules, there is a high risk that your insurance company will not cover the costs this entails.

Extensive cleaning and drying is required for up to several months before the premises can be restored. In the meantime, the property often has to be vacated and temporary premises used. The water damage can also affect the floor below.

A water-connected appliance without a connection to a floor drain, for example a coffee machine or a water dispenser, must be placed on a waterproof surface with folded edges all around. The device must be equipped with a shut-off valve with an easily accessible operating device. The device must also have a moisture sensor on the waterproof surface. The humidity sensor must be connected to a leakage switch or water fault switch - From Säker Vatten

WHAT IS SAFE WATER?

Säker Vatten AB is tasked with developing, managing and marketing the industry regulations, as well as controlling and authorizing plumbing companies. Industry regulations Safe water installation is a set of regulations that have been drawn up by industry players to reduce the risk of, among other things, water damage. The rules place demands on both installers and products. The system includes authorization of plumbing companies and training of plumbing fitters, supervisors, etc. The goal is to provide increased safety and security for the user. Installations carried out according to these industry rules also meet most insurance companies’ conditions for water damage compensation.
