Swedish-Norwegian Million-Dollar Deal Meets New Requirements to Prevent Water Damage in Kitchens

Swedish company Tollco and Norwegian company Fell Tech, with their Waterguard product, are both leading players in water damage prevention. As building regulations for kitchens become stricter in both countries, the two companies have entered into an agreement. This partnership enables them to offer each other’s products in their respective markets.

To reduce the number of kitchen water damage incidents, new regulations are introduced in Sweden, effective from July 1. At the same time, requirements in Norway are also tightened.

“In Sweden, it will be necessary to combine traditional collection trays with a leakage breaker that shuts off the water as soon as a leak occurs. Fell Tech’s Waterguard is the best leakage breaker on the market, and now we can offer it in Sweden, which we are very proud of,” says Clas Crafoord Olsson, CEO of Tollco.

In Norway, leakage breakers have been mandatory for a long time. As a result, Waterguard is already installed in over half a million Norwegian kitchens, and Fell Tech installs approximately 70,000 new units each year. A new regulation is also being introduced in Norway requiring water-resistant cabinet bottoms to prevent water from spreading in the event of a leak. Additionally, the requirement for drip trays under sinks, dishwashers, and refrigerators is relatively new.
